Kitchen Managers are highly effective and efficient managers with a chefs background. They are specialized in managing everything dealing with the kitchen, but they are most of the time not directly involved in the actual preparation and cooking process. Tasks include negotiating deals with vendors and suppliers, managing waste reduction, menu-engineering, calculations, the working order of kitchen appliances, maintenance of appliances and drafting the working schedules of all staff members. This is a support function where the Executive Chef can fully focus on the creative and menu development process. There is only one Kitchen Manager job per hotel, resort, restaurant, external venue and event location.
